This publication presents a review of the principal recommendations for the treatment and prevention of tumour-associated thrombosis. The primary aspects of the pathogenesis of venous thromboembolic complications in cancer patients are delineated. The article goes on to describe the aspects and rules of treatment of tumour-associated thrombosis, as well as aspects of their prevention. The early, prolonged and delayed phases of treatment for venous thrombosis in cancer patients are highlighted and characterised. The principles of venous thrombosis prophylaxis in patients with planned surgical treatment, separately for non-surgical patients, separately for patients receiving chemotherapy, are outlined.
